THIS year marks the tenth anniversary of the Terry Fox Run in York. The run is dedicated to raising funds for cancer research.
To date all the money raised - more than £10,000 - has been forwarded to the Cancer Research Unit of York University, a facility that is rapidly gaining worldwide prominence.
Terry Fox ran a marathon (26 miles) every day for 143 days, for a total of 3,339 miles on one good leg and one artificial leg. His heroic feat is commemorated each year in more than 50 countries around the world. It would be wonderful if readers would participate in this worthwhile event to raise money to help end the suffering cancer causes.
It is a non-competitive event. Participants can walk, bike, wheel, run and jog with children, dogs and strollers.
The venue for the event is the York University Sports Centre. The run takes place tomorrow at 11am.
