Pocklington dominated most of the game but had to survive an anxious last 20 minutes to beat Osbaldwick 3-1 in the premier division of the Leeper Hare York and District League.

Brent Terry beat the off-side trap to net Pock's first and it was no surprise when he made it 2-0 just before half-time after he combined well with Baz Gargett.

Mick Murr made it 3-0 six minutes into the second half but the visitors then responded well.

On 70 minutes Joe Depa's long ball put Graham Freear clear to be brought down by Sean Roberts, who was red carded. 'Keeper Carl Silburn saved the free-kick but 'Wick seized the initiative and pulled one back through James Whalen from close in after a corner.

Osbaldwick pressed further but found chances difficult to come by and were almost caught by the speed of Terry on the break.

Two minutes from time Steve Jackson missed a great chance to reduce the arrears when he headed a Depa cross over from six yards.

Rufforth became the first team to take a point off Malton Bacon Factory this season as they held the Norton side 3-3. Simon Collins gave the Factory a first-half lead but Paul Moss equalised early in the second half and Phil Jones lobbed the 'keeper to put Rufforth ahead.

Collins levelled but another skilful Jones lob restored Rufforth's lead. With 20 minutes left, a deflected Nicky Cass shot produced another equaliser and then the Factory threw everything at Rufforth but Chris Maude in goal performed heroics to deny them a winner.

Dringhouses won 2-0 at Kartiers courtesy of goals by Joe Gaughan and Mick Lock in either half.

Bishopthorpe twice came from behind to draw at Crayke. After a blank first 45 minutes, Tim Jackson scored twice for Crayke. The first was cancelled out from the penalty spot while the second leveller came two minutes from time.

John Alcock hit four as Wigginton Grasshoppers thumped Riccall 6-0 in the bottom-of-the-table clash.

After a lively start by 'Hoppers, Riccall's 'keeper was sent off for bringing down Alcock, who got up to score the penalty. The stand-in 'keeper pulled off some fine saves before Alcock hit three on the trot, one a penalty. Then Owen Willis hit the goal of the game from a free-kick, and Chris Holmes rounded off the win with a solo effort.

Nestle Rowntree beat Old Malton 5-2 with goals from Jamie Carter, Paul Noon (2), Steve Blake (pen) and Daniel Cooper.

Haxby & Wigginton and Haxby Town served up a nine-goal division one derby with Town winning despite having a man sent off after 20 minutes.

Haxby led through Des Drummond but a Chris Dyson double put Wigginton in front. Scott Barley levelled from the spot and Dave Thompson restored Haxby's lead only for Jon Machin to equalise. Thompson went on to complete a hat-trick and Wigginton could not level again despite another goal from Machin.

Wigginton Black Horse and Post Office drew 0-0, 'keepers Darren Winters and Steve Kelly starring.

This saw Copmanthorpe move second after they beat New Earswick 4-2 with goals from Mark Gregory (2), Graeme Butcher and Terry Hibbert.

Brendan Lanaghan and Chris Harkin snatched the points for T&L in a derby which Thorpe had dominated for long periods.

Fulford and Norwich Union got their first points of the season as they drew 2-2. Richard Hunter and Matthew Hibbings made it 2-0 to the Insurancemen before Ben Bailey pulled one back after an hour and equalised 20 minutes later. He was denied a winner by the woodwork.
