WHAT do Carmen Miranda, grass skirts and pieces of fruit on cocktail sticks have in common?
They have all made an appearance at Calcaria House Community Centre, in Tadcaster.
The centre, which provides activities and entertainment for the elderly and disabled, organised a Hawaiian night to cheer up residents of the brewery town now that the cold dark nights are drawing in.
The evening included a summery sing-song, with tropical tunes such as Summer Holiday, Rock-a-Hula and Happy Talk from South Pacific.
Wardens Christine Bowes, Carol Gibbs and Elaine Cumberland dressed up in grass skirts and flower garlands, much to the amusement of the 80 people who attended. One woman even dressed up as Carmen Miranda.
Mrs Bowes said: "Everyone had a great time."
