POLICE are hunting a hit- and-run driver after a 16-year-old boy was found lying in the middle of a road in Knaresborough.

Bradford teenager Ibrar Ali was crossing Boroughbridge Road, near Piccadilly Motors, in Knaresborough, at 6.15pm last Friday when he was struck by a car.

The vehicle, believed to be a small hatchback, was heading out of town at the time of the accident.

The driver, who was white and wearing a cap, at first stopped, then drove off at speed.

The injured boy, who was found by a colleague lying in the road, was taken to Harrogate District Hospital where he was kept in for observation. It is believed that his injuries are not serious.
