City of York Ladies I suffered a second successive 1-0 defeat in the North League, this time to Whitley Bay.

York had the edge early on but midway through the first half Bay forced 'keeper Dawn Hopkins to make several saves before she was given no chance when a cross was touched in at the near post.

York made regular substitutions in a great second-half effort to get back on terms and came close to equalising when Sam Binns' shot was well saved. But, despite almost constant pressure, York lacked sharpness in front of goal.

In Yorkshire League division two City of York Ladies II had a good 1-0 win at Syngenta Dragons, Sue Draper scoring in the first half from a cross by Krista Siddall.

In division six, City of York Ladies III gained a 5-0 home win against Wakefield IV with goals from Becky Copperthwaite (2), Sarah Hughes (2), and a fine last-minute effort from Lucy Stubley.

Also in division six, City of York Ladies IV lost 4-2 at Harrogate IV, Katie Stafford scoring York's goals.

Acomb Women I won 2-0 against a well-organised Wakefield Wande-rers. Both goals came just before half time when a Kerry Rafton short corner strike was followed by an Ann Hagyard goal. Wakefield came out strongly in the second half but were kept out by astute defending led by Danielle Courtine.

Acomb Ladies II failed to get to grips with Salandine Nook II and fell to a 5-0 defeat.

St John's Ladies I thrashed Skipton & Airedale II 11-0 with Becky Moore and Liz Wilcock each notching a hat-trick. Other scorers were captain Annabel Lee (2), Helen Rickaby (2) and Kim Naylor 1.

St John's Ladies II completed a great day with an 8-0 win at Halifax IV. Goals were shared by Alison Wilkinson (2), Hannah Smith (2), Laura Telfer, Sarah Clough, Toni Beverley and Sonia Davies.

York Under 12 girls remained third in the Yorkshire Youth League after their latest matches.

A weakened side did well to beat Wakefield 3-0 with goals by Heather Stafford (2) and Anna Ramli but ran out of steam in losing 5-3 in an even game against Harrogate, Sophie Worsman getting her first goal of the season and Stafford adding two.

In the final game a lack of rolling substitutes saw tiredness affect York in a 6-0 defeat to Driffield.
