YORK has many assets, both as a place to live and as a tourist centre. One of the best is the River Ouse and City of York Council should be looking at more ways to enhance this asset.
Councillor Macdonald is wrong to want another bridge between Lendal and Ouse Bridge (October 29). A far better project would be to construct a riverside walkway on the Mansion House side between those two bridges.
The walkways on the Moat House Hotel side are very good and give much pleasure to many people, as does the wooden gantry on the Bar 38 and De Alto area.
How and when the existing sections on the south side are to be joined up are long overdue matters and should be on the immediate agenda of the council's leisure and heritage department rather than another bridge.
