STUDENTS will remember former York College student Caroline Stuttle when they fund raise for her Rainbow Foundation at a Gap Year Fair tomorrow.

The 19-year-old backpacker was murdered whilst traveling in Queensland, Australia on a gap year trip in April.

Now college bosses have organised the fair at the sixth form site to help other students plan their gap year trip and to travel safely.

York College catering students have baked 500 rainbow cookies using Smarties donated by Nestl UK and the students union will sell rainbow ribbon badges and hold a raffle.

All proceeds will go to Caroline's Rainbow Foundation, which aims to educate young people about travel abroad and offer them support and advice.

Marjorie Stuttle, Caroline's mother, welcomed the college's help in raising awareness of her daughter's Rainbow Foundation, and also in fundraising for the cause.

She said young people abroad could contact the Foundation for help if they found themselves in difficulty.

College careers adviser Andy D'Agorne said workers at the college were keen to see the Gap Year Fair become an annual event.
