COXWOLD hammered hosts Thirsk 11-2 in the second division of the RJF Homes Beckett League, in one of only two games in the league to go ahead.

Second division Heslerton Reserves shocked first division Union Rovers 5-2 in the East Riding CFA Country Qualifying Cup second round.

Andrew Piercy put Union ahead but Danny Cass (2), Curtis Drummond (pen) and Matty Cass (2) turned it round, while Heslerton 'keeper Gareth Driver saved a Jamie Wilkinson penalty.

Snainton beat Dolphin 4-2 after extra time, Liam Cooper (2), Ryan Cooper and youngster Andy Bloomfield netting, while Andy Holden (2), Andy McAleese, Jish Rewcroft and Nigel Ashley saw Ayton beat Wards Reserves 5-2, for whom Ben Moorcroft and John Bateman netted.

The match of the round saw Billy Johnson, Paul Brady and Paul Wheatley score as Burniston fought back from 2-0 down to beat Sinnington, for whom David Wilkinson and Lee Mitchell netted while Rob Atkinson missed a penalty.
