Tadcaster Grammar School stormed to the Inter Girls race at the North East regional round of the English Schools Cross Country Cup.
As a result they qualified for the national finals in Cheshire on December 7, along with St Peter's School.
There will be 24 teams in action at Cheshire from an original entry of 400 from all over the country.
Emma Macalister-Hall (St Peter's) finished second to a runner from Morpeth, but the Tadcaster scoring quartet, led home by Charlotte Maxted, excelled themselves to achieve a team total of 36, with the second placed team having 62.
Canon Lee ran well to finish fifth in the junior race, despite one of their best runners being unable to run. Vicky Needham finished fourth, having been in second place until misdirected by a marshal.
For Queen Margaret's, Escrick, year seven student Elizabeth Eden had a very good run to finish seventh.
