IT'S A strange world, the one occupied by The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster.

It's also an angry one. Raw, dark fury swirls around stunning vocals and lyrics, a blend of Jim Morrison, The Cult's Ian Astbury and AC/DC's Angus Young. Understandably this debut is an intense experience.

Clocking in at just over 25 minutes long, it's a no-messing assault on your eardrums. If you like heavy, you'll be in heaven.

The lads from The Crescent deliver lazy guitars and iron vocals wrapped in a velvet glove. The legacy of The La's is clear to see, as are bits of The Who, The Beatles and Small Faces, but The Crescent have plenty of tunes of their own.

Enjoy the classy guitar on Another Day or the Sixtiesorgan on Parallel. There is more of an edge to their music than contemporaries The Coral, probably sharpened by their tough Bluebell Estate upbringing, but plenty of subtlety too. This is good, yet you sense it's only the beginning.
