RYEDALE'S John Greenway was the only North Yorkshire MP to declare paid employment outside Parliament last year.

In the latest register of member's interests, he listed paid directorships for insurance firm Smart and Cook, and Stewart Title Insurance Company.

MPs are not forced to declare the amount they earn from directorships, but under Westminster rules they must reveal who they are working for.

In the section for paid employment, Tory shadow sports minister Mr Greenway declared an income of between £10,001 and £15,000 as President of the Institute of Insurance Brokers.

He also received up to £5,000 each from four organisations which support the post of Parliamentary Adviser to the incentives industry.

York Labour MP Hugh Bayley declared a single overseas visit, to the West Bank and Gaza - paid for by the York-based development charity UNAIS.

Selby Labour MP John Grogan said he receives up to £5,000 for a regular column for the Morning Advertiser.

Under gifts and hospitality, Vale of York MP Anne McIntosh listed a trip to York Races as a guest of Coral in October, and free membership of the RAC club at Pall Mall.

She also listed a half-share in a "smallholding" in Teesdale, Co. Durham.

Scarborough and Whitby's Lawrie Quinn had nothing to declare, along with Harrogate's Phil Willis.
