I HAVE never felt so betrayed in my life. First the directors of Bootham Crescent Holdings (BCH) behave immorally, and then John Batchelor turns out to be all huff 'n' puff.
It is now very clear that the survival of the club is in the hands of a very few people who would sacrifice their principles and loyalties for financial gain, and any society would be the poorer for allowing such endeavours to prevail.
I cannot explain why I have loved our football club for 20 years, I just know that I do. I also know that our future rests solely with York City Council's planning department.
Our only hope is for the council to deny planning permission to Persimmon Homes until a new ground is secure, to the satisfaction of the Supporters' Trust. That way, the directors of BCH may be forced to concede that they have a "worthless" asset and consider transferring the ground to the Supporters' Trust, for a reasonable sum.
Without a ground, York City cannot survive. I see this step as the only hope. If we can achieve this then with many player contracts coming to an end in June, the finances can be restructured. Without a ground the problems appear insurmountable.
I urge the people to write to the council expressing their objections, and to assist, in whatever way the efforts of the Supporters' Trust.
