CHILDREN from a York school launched a major investigation into the vital question Do You Believe In Father Christmas? for their school production.

The production at Scarcroft Primary School featured a Panorama-style newsroom, where young reporters interrogated experts on the subject.

Mother Christmas was interviewed live from a child's bedroom and spoke about how, in a world of equal opportunities, the role of Santa was not just for men.

The play, which was performed yesterday and today, was written by the school's head teacher, Anna Cornhill.

She said: "With the infants we do a Nativity, but with the juniors we do something different to reflect the fact that not everyone is a Christian.

"The children seemed to be having a really good time and I was thrilled with the singing.

"They rose to the challenge and learned all the words particularly well."
