A minute's silence for the late Alec Fyrth, a founder member of York and District Junior Cricket Association, was held at the association's annual meeting this week.
He had been the organisation's chairman since 1976, but died suddenly at the age of 73 on November 29. He also acted as treasurer to the association and was well known as a cricket coach in the York area especially with the young cricketers.
Mr Fyrth was also a member of Heworth Cricket Club for over 40 years.
The following Junior Cricket Association officers were elected at the annual meeting: President, Guy Mitchell; chairman, Paul Wilkinson; secretary, Alan Carter; treasurer, Anton Rodgers; management committee: Mick Pickering, Fred Mason, Bernard Carter and Bill Carter.
