JEANETTE Gilbert made a successful return to York Badminton League action, partnering Sean Ogley to head the returns 92-25 as Shepherds blanked St John's in Mixed Three.
Drax 'C' put in a good team display to beat old rivals Selby Jubilee 'A' 8-1. Rex Pocklington and Kay Marshall topped the Drax returns with 90-39. Nick Richardson and Karen Shooter took Jubilee's point with a 15-5 10-13 15-11 win over John Formby and Pat Gregory.
Shelagh Barker and Karen Broster took all three Clifton wins as their team lost 6-3 at home to Drax in Ladies Division One.
Barker and Broster were given a tough examination by Julie Smythe and Gayle Bradley before winning 15-6 7-15 17-15.
Clifton Men's team fared better when they visited York RI Tuesday/Thursday 'A' in Men's One and won 7-2. Ian Shore and Paul Waterhouse top-scored with three straight wins for 90-56.
University Students 'A' Men's team won 6-3 at Shepherds in a Division One fixture. James Croll and Russell Binns took the Student honours with three wins for 103-58.
Father and son pairing of Mark and Matt Burrows helped Pocklington to a 6-3 home win over RI Thursday 'B' in Men's Two. Their three wins for 90-40 included an 8 and 8 over Dave Thompson and Brian Williams, who played well for Institute.
Institute suffered a further reverse when they whitewashed at Riverside. John Fowler and Chris Swift were in devastating form for Riverside, winning all three in straight sets for a total of 90-15.
Riverside scored another victory when they visited Knavesmire in their shared facilities at Poppleton. The 8-1 win saw Fowler and Swift top-score again with a return of 90-32, while John Major and Alastair Jewison took Knavesmire's consolation with an 8-15 15-6 15-9 win over Nigel Stainforth and Ian McKinlay.
Fulfordgate lost 5-4 at home to YUSC in Men's Three. Andy Brown and Simon Fletcher made the staff club difference with three wins for a total of 110-79.
York RI 'A' had an easy 9-0 home win over Drax 'A' in Mixed Division One. Nicola Coggins and Paul Turner had an excellent series culminating in three straight wins for a total of 90-23.
Pocklington 'A' entertained Easingwold in Mixed Two and ran out 8-1 winners. Mark Burrows and Pam Palmer returned 90-26 for Pock, while Linda Dallinson and N Croker took the consolation for Easingwold with a 15-6 2-15 15-11 victory over Chris Kunkel and Sally Howat.
