A MOTHER and her two young sons, who were killed in a head-on crash on an East Yorkshire road, have been named by police.

Yvonne Finney, 26, of Burton Fleming, East Yorkshire, was killed along with one-year-old Christopher and four-year-old Clayton in a crash on the B1253, between the villages of Boynton and Rudston, near Bridlington, on Wednesday.

Her husband, Christopher, 30, who was driving, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He has been released from treatment, but is still in hospital caring for the couple's three-year-old daughter, Blair.

Blair suffered serious injuries in the crash, but was yesterday said to be in a comfortable and stable condition in Hull Royal Infirmary.

The tragedy happened when the family's Ford Orion was involved in a head-on collision with a Toyota 4x4 Landcruiser, driven by a 50-year-old man from Bridlington. He suffered chest and knee injuries, which are non-life threatening, and is being treated in hospital.

Mrs Finney, a front-seat passenger, and her two sons died at the scene.

In line with procedure, special accident investigation officers and scenes of crime officers were called to examine the scene, and family liaison officers have been appointed to help the family.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, which happened at about 3.20pm on Wednesday, is asked to phone the police at Beverley on 01482 597900.
