WHAT did the archbishop say when he came face-to-face with the devil? "Pleased to meet you."
That is the Church of England way: good manners at all times.
Fortunately, this encounter was not Armageddon, but the Archbishop of York's visit to the Christmas play at Bishopthorpe Junior School.
Dr David Hope was clearly charmed to meet the young Prince (or in this case, Princess) of Darkness, even though she looks ready to deal him a blow in the chops with a toasting fork.
All in all, a wicked day at school.
