A RECENT report that the humble sparrow has been placed on Britain's official 'Red List' of endangered birds, joining rarities such as the bittern, the white-tailed eagle and the stone curlew, is worrying to say the least, for all birds.
Birds play a crucial role in the ecology of the countryside as well as bringing joy to millions of people. It would be a great shame if this cheerful little bird vanishes forever.
