HOMEOWNERS in York have helped an African community by cashing in on the rocketing value of their homes.
Members of the York Fanteakwa Community Link donated the equivalent of one day's price rise in the value of their property to people in Ghana, West Africa.
Geoff Beacon gave £80, the estimated one-day value increase of his Belle Vue Street home.
The cash will help fund education projects in Fanteakwa to help girls receive secondary schooling and provide materials for a library serving the rural community.
Community Link chairperson Jo Maguire said £350 was raised.
