CHRISTMAS spirit came to St Leonard's Hospice in the form of a £1,000 donation from a York-based recruitment firm.
Opus Appointments decided that, instead of sending Christmas cards to its clients this year, it would donate the money it would have spent to St Leonard's Hospice.
To mark the occasion, Opus Appointments' managing director Maggie Gibson handed over this year's only card - a giant one representing their £1,000 gift - to hospice community fundraiser Helen Moreton.
Maggie Gibson said: "We decided that it was much more worthwhile to give what we would have spent on cards to a worthy cause, and we agreed that we should give it to St Leonard's Hospice, as a charity that does so much to help the people of York.
