SCHOOL children throughout York are set to benefit from more than £8,000 worth of lottery funding.

Clifton Green Primary School has been awarded £4,230 from the Awards For All scheme to fund a football development programme.

The programme will provide a structured path for pupils and help with their social skills and confidence.

The Maths and Art network received £4,900 to establish maths and art clubs in the city's schools.

Create York Open Studios was also awarded £4,600 and will use the money to host a two-day informal art exhibition.
