ALTHOUGH Rowntree won 6-3 at home to University Staff Club in ladies division one of York Badminton League the best performance in the match was by two members of the Staff Club team.

Sally Locker and Lynne Terry scored all three of the Staff Club's wins and had a match total of 94-75.

Bev Tebbutt and Angela Hobman achieved their best return for some time, with a total of 90-10 from straight wins, as Huntington beat St John's 8-1 in ladies division two.

Shepherds won 7-2 away to York RI Tuesday/Thursday 'A' in men's division one.

Ian Eaton and Sean Ogley totalled 102-59 in three wins, including a 9 and 7 success over Ian Sinker and Tony Kirkman, who scored both the Institute team's wins.

In an earlier fixture Shepherds lost 7-2 at home to Drax 'A'.

Phil Brunyard and Andrew Neal totalled 90-34 in three straight wins for the visitors.

Drax 'B' scored two wins in men's division two. A 7-2 home win over St John's was followed by a 9-0 home win over RI Tuesday/Thursday 'B'.

Adam Prescott and Jeremy Bowman scored maximums in both matches for a six rubber total of 186-89, which included a close 6-15 15-4 15-13 win over St John's Dave Dearsley and Liam Whittington.

St John's suffered a further defeat when they visited Pocklington and lost 6-3.

Dave Dearsley and Liam Whittington took two points for the student teachers, but lost 15-5 8-15 11-15 to Mark Burrows and Tom Rastall.

Selby Jubilee 'B' won 7-2 at home win over Sheriff Hutton in men's division three.

Paul Newnham and Simon Benson totalled 97-42 in three wins for Jubilee, including a tough 7-15 15-12 15-12 success over J and S Colley.

In mixed division one Clifton 'A' won 7-2 at home to Riverside 'A', after Riverside conceded three rubbers because they had only two pairs of players.

Margaret Sinclair and Craig Dobson scored both Riverside's wins, but lost 3-15 15-4 1-15 to Karen Broster and Ian Shore.

In an earlier match Clifton 'A' won 6-3 away to York RI 'B'. Kevin Davison and Shelagh Barker scored Clifton's winning rubber, beating Nick Brodie and Ann Murray 17-16 15-2.

York RI 'A' made amends with a 6-3 win away to University Students 'A'.

Russell Binns and Nicky Roe totalled 90-36 in winning all three points for the students.

Dave Bloomfield and Helen Robinson clinched a 5-4 win for Clifton 'C' against Selby Jubilee 'A' in mixed division three.

They beat Neil Richardson and Lynn Dawson 7-15 15-4 15-9 in the eighth game to complete three wins and finish with a match total of 91-50.

Huntington 'B' kept on the winning track in mixed division four with a 7-2 home win over Pocklington 'B'.

John Deighton and Carolyn Arden scored three Huntington wins for a total of 90-25.

Bob Atkinson and Sheila Fixter gained both Pocklington's wins, but lost 9 and 2 to Deighton and Arden.

Middlethorpe won 9-0 at home win over Scarthingwell in mixed division six. Geoff Deighton and Georgina Mackenzie totalled of 90-13, while Ray Oxley and Hazel Quarrie chipped in with three wins for 90-30.
