York RL Supporters' Club have passed on thanks to fans who submitted entries in the competition to rename the Supporters' Club Draw, writes Peter Martini.

The Supporters' Club deemed "Pot of Gold" the best name suggested for the draws, which take place on York City Knights home match-days.

The prize of free draw tickets was offered to the winning entrant. However, this entrant, who wished to remain anonymous, declined the prize and instead all entrants' names went into a hat, and the winner drawn was Ms Jackie Turner.

Ms Turner is asked to make herself known, with proof of identity, to a "Pot of Gold" seller on the next match-day to claim her ticket.

Membership of the Supporters' Club for new and existing members is due, still at £2.

Anyone wishing to renew membership or join should contact a Pot of Gold seller on a match day.

Anyone who wishes to sell Pot of Gold tickets are asked to send their name and contact details to Peter Martini

(peter.martini@ycp.co.uk) at York Evening Press Sports-desk, 76-86 Walmgate, York, YO1 9YN, who will forward the details to the committee.

The Knights club office has now closed for the festive break to reopen on Thursday, January 2. An answer machine will field calls. Anyone wanting to snap up the few remaining tickets for the Knights' New Year's Eve party should contact Gary Hall on 01904 634902. Tickets cost £25 a head, or £200 for a table of ten.
