Selby ended any lingering relegation fears in Yorkshire One with an 18-13 victory over Old Crossleyans at Sandhill Lane.
The win consolidated Selby's position in fifth place, with an outside chance of forcing their way in to the top two by the end of the season.
Tries by Geoff Stier, Tom Bayston and Martin Bramley and a penalty by Ray Adamson won a tight game against an Old Crossleyans side which scored two tries and a penalty.
The weekend before Christmas 2001 saw Selby deep in relegation territory, with only two league wins. A comfortable victory against Pocklington was the start of a good run in which Selby lost only one game during the remainder of the season.
Now Selby will be looking to put together a similar charge.
The Sandhill Laners have now played every team in the league and far from being comprehensively beaten by any of them the greatest margin of defeat has been just 11 points, with several results being in doubt until very late on in matches.
