SANTA rested his reindeers when he swapped his flying sleigh for a fire engine during a North Yorkshire visit.
He called in at the Elvington Air Museum to meet more than 200 children awaiting his fourth annual visit.
There he moved into a makeshift grotto, set up in the museum's Herald aircraft, before handing out presents.
Ian Dewar, the museum's operations manager, said: "The number of children broke all records, and there were a lot of parents here as well.
"Santa's visit has become incredibly popular for little and big kids alike."
- Santa was originally expected to arrive by helicopter, but this was fog-bound.
