THE pensioner killed in a road smash at Thornton le Dale on Sunday has been named as 73-year-old Kenneth William Robinson.
Mr Robinson, a retired refuse collector, from Thornton le Dale, died when the Rover he was driving was in collision with a Volkswagen Polo. A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said that an inquest was expected to open and adjourn later today.
Meanwhile, a North Yorkshire-based serviceman remains critically ill after suffering severe burns when his car crashed into a wall and caught fire.
Philip Moran, 22, of Keighley, West Yorkshire, was injured when his Peugeot 206 hit a wall on the Tadcaster to Bolton Percy road last Thursday evening.
