THE Battlefield Band, formed by four students in Glasgow 30 years ago, have been at the forefront of the revival in Scottish music.
The band have taken line-up changes in their stride and are remarkable for the way they have fused the Scottish tradition with a fresh, relevant sound. Latest album Time and Tide will appeal to their army of loyal fans built up by decades of touring the world.
The Battlefield Band have stuck to their tried and tested formula of mixing old songs and tunes with new compositions, played on bagpipes, fiddle, guitar, flute, bodhran and accordion. Their music is joyful, raucous and contemplative.
