THE snow may have disappeared for the time being, but there's a snowman near Selby that refuses to melt.
A 15ft tall snowman, called Lofty, is still standing outside Barff View Farm Shop, in Thorpe Willoughby.
Made of bales of straw, wrapped in polythene and painted white, he is wearing a hat made from tractor tyres and black polythene.
The pipe he is "smoking" was conjured by farmers Kevin and John Sherwood from an old bucket and a piece of exhaust pipe.
Says Kevin: "We intended to take Lofty down after Christmas, but it has created such a lot of interest that we decided to leave him there for the time being.
"It's a bit of fun and our customers have been so taken by him that they've taken photographs."
