LADIES Division Two of the York Badminton League saw Pocklington entertain St John's and lose out 2-7.

Lucy Smith and Lindsey Spicer were in great form for the student teachers, winning all three for 90-20 including a 7 and 4 over Sue Percival and Wendy Arnold, who took both home wins.

Dave Brogden and Andy Limbert made the difference for Knavesmire as their team beat RI T/Thursday 'B' 5-4 in Men's Two.

Brogden and Limbert took three wins for 90-42 including the matchwinning eighth, where they beat Dave Thompson and Brian Williams 7 and 5.

York RI 'A' beat York RI 'B' 8-1 in Mixed Division One. Paul Turner and Nicola Coggins topscored with 90-48, while the 'B' team consolation was taken by Pete Moss and Carol Howes who beat Richard Pauw and Carol Langford 17-14 15-9.

Clifton 'A' and Drax 'A' fought out a close match in Mixed One with Clifton just getting the verdict 6-3. Kevin Davison and Karen Anderson swung this match Clifton's way with three wins for 105-82.

University Students 'B' beat Clifton 'B' 6-3 and then lost out 1-8 to their 'A' team clubmates also in Mixed One.

The Clifton match saw the student pairing of Phillip Pap and Helen Turner play well to return three close wins for a total of 114-94, including a 6 and 11 over Simon Taylor and Lorraine Ellis who took two Clifton wins.

Clifton 'B' had earlier entertained University Students 'A' and lost out 3-6. Chris Woodroffe and Nicky Roe were in tremendous form for the students, winning all three in straight sets for a return of 90-44.

York RI 'A' visited Drax 'A' and were good value for a 6-3 win. Paul Turner and Nicola Coggins played well to take three wins for 109-82 but were pushed hard by Phil Brunyard and Julie Smythe before winning 15-13 11-15 15-6.

Rowntree 'A' proved the selectors right with a 7-2 win over their 'B' team clubmates.

Phil Grant and Helen Shepherd took three 'A' team wins for 90-43 whilst Mark Barker and Emma Andrew took both 'B' team wins but lost out 10 and 2 to Grant and Shepherd.

Sheriff Hutton visited Pocklington 'A' in Mixed Two with only two pairings and then only narrowly lost 4-5. Mark Burrows and Lynn Sagar took the vital Pocklington win with a 15-4 7-15 15-11 over Linda Fairclough and Andrew Daffern.

Drax 'D' won the battle of the Selby clubs with a 5-4 home win over Selby Jubilee 'A'.

Anthony Boyes and Di McKechnie were Drax's mainstays once again with three straight wins for 90-43. Neil Richardson and Karen Shooter took two Jubilee wins but lost 12 and 3 to Boyes and McKechnie.

Shepherds travelled to Drax 'C' in Mixed Three and were given a tough time before winning 7-2.

Six rubbers went to a deciding end before Dave Simpson and Chiara Secchi took the best return with three wins for 112-78. Rex Pocklington and Kay Wilson took both Drax successes but lost 6 and 4 to Simpson and Secchi.

Tadcaster 86 proved too strong for Fulfordgate 'A' and won 6-3 away in Mixed Four.

Phil Zealand and M Parks top scored for the visitors with 90-29 including a 5 and 8 over Matt Hobman and Maureen Medlar who took two Fulfordgate wins.
