A LORRY crashed into the garden wall of a York home today.

The incident happened in Galtres Avenue, near Stockton Lane, at about 10.48am.

A North Yorkshire Fire Service spokeswoman said no one was injured in the accident, but firefighters cleaned up an oil spillage from the impact.

The spokeswoman added that the vehicle had been secured and had been left in the hands of highway maintenance workers.

Icy conditions caused a string of minor road accidents across North and East Yorkshire today.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said there were 23 minor accidents due to road conditions.

In Kirklington, near Ripon, a coach full of schoolchildren escaped injury after the vehicle they were travelling struck a house.

Police, fire and ambulance teams attended the accident, but there were no reports of serious injury.

A man in his teens suffered neck, back and facial injuries after his car left the road and became lodged on an embankment in Scarborough.
