I AM alarmed that Councillor Galloway denies the "skyscrapers in York" charge levelled against the Lib Dem councillors, but he doesn't deny the allegation that a Lib Dem councillor remarked that people who couldn't afford to buy property in York should go and live in South Yorkshire (January 6).
This is an outrageous thing to say and is tantamount to the financial equivalent of ethnic cleansing.
I live and work in York, I don't drive and I can't afford to buy a house of my own in York or close enough to it so I can use buses. Would the Lib Dems "deport" me to Sheffield?
Until now I have always voted Lib Dem at local elections. Now my vote has just gone "no overall control".
Dr Richard Greaves,
Morehall Close,
York.
