A SCHEME which will bring environmental benefits to a York water course has been completed.
Yorkshire Water says the work at its Danebury Drive waste water pumping station in Acomb will enhance the water course in the area, Carr Drain.
The project is part of the company's £400 million programme of work to upgrade inland sewage works, storm overflows and sewers.
Yorkshire Water's project manager, David Parkin, said: "This is a small part of a major project to reduce the risk of discharge entering the river, should there be a pumping station failure. Because of this improvement we need to apply for a consent from the Environment Agency. Our business is to improve the environment and not harm it. The new measures we have put in place will help us achieve this."
