AT 10.30am on Monday, I asked the Evening Press to tell some of its Wigginton readers why their telephones had been out of order since last Thursday and I am grateful for your information published the same day (January 6).

At one time, BT public relations would have seen it as a courtesy to subscribers to advise the Evening Press, which would have let us know the situation a full three days earlier; but in those days I doubt the fault would have taken so long to clear!
