YORK mum Allison Williams will sit down this week and write thank-you letters - to all the people who helped reunite her with her son.

Allison has enjoyed her first weekend with seven-year-old Daniel since she won a custody hearing at a Californian court last week.

The 40-year-old, who lives off Nunnery Lane, said it had been very hectic after touching down with Daniel at Heathrow Airport on Friday.

One of the toughest challenges for Daniel was trying to adjust to the eight-hour time difference between York and his former home in Duarte, California.

But while Allison said things had been hectic, she said she was loving every minute of having Daniel with her at last.

"Daniel is on a different time zone to us. It is exciting, but it's tiring. We have been trying to organise who's sleeping where. It's quite a big adjustment," she said.

"Daniel has been wide awake for the last two nights until 3.30am. It will probably take him a good two weeks to get used to the time zones.

"On Saturday night we took him for dinner and went to the Grand Opera House where one of his sister's friends was dancing. He enjoyed that.

"I think he is quite happy to be here. He seems quite excited. He is looking forward to seeing York."

Allison had launched custody proceedings in America after Daniel's father, Kevin Stucki, died from Leukaemia.

Evening Press readers helped raise more than £1,000 towards the $3,000 of legal costs needed to secure Allison's future with Daniel.

She said: "I am up and down. It is quite an adjustment, but I am really pleased he is here. If things get on top of me, I will just remind myself of the last four years.

"I am enjoying every minute. Later this week I will be looking to enrol Daniel at a school. Then I will sit down and write thank-you letters to everyone who has helped me."
