AN ELDERLY North Yorkshire woman died after being struck by a car while crossing a road.
The woman was crossing Victoria Avenue, in Harrogate, near to the exit of Safeways, when the accident happened yesterday at 10.45am. The woman, who is from the Harrogate area, received serious injuries and was taken to Harrogate District Hospital, but later died.
The driver was left shaken but not injured, and was interviewed at Harrogate Police Station.
Victoria Avenue was closed until 4.30pm yesterday. Anyone with information should phone Harrogate Police on 01423 539474.
