Selby Town moved further away from the Nortrhern Counties East League premier division drop zone with a 3-1 win over bottom-placed visitors Borrowash Victoria.

The game started badly when Borrowash were awarded a penalty after 18 minutes. Matthew Potter saved the spot-kick but Matt Freeman knocked in the rebound.

But the Robins responded well, levelling five minutes later when Matty Wain scored from close range.

Selby then took control. Andy Hart superbly curled a 25-yard free kick in to the top corner for the lead just before the hour with Dominic Moyles heading in a Hart corner in the 71st minute.

Selby are at home again tomorrow against Thackley (kick off 7.45pm).

Free-scoring Harrogate Railway steamed to a second successive six-shooting show.

They foilowed a 6-0 hammering of Hallam with a 6-2 battering of Brodsworth Miners Welfare, and that after the hosts led 2-0.

The key to the comeback was Pete Wrigley's stunning 25-yarder just before half-time.

Steve Davey's leveller soon after the resumption then initiated a four-goal blitz in eight minutes.

Wrigley completed his hat-trick and Davey hit his second before Andy Sunley also got on target to move Rail into 11th place ahead of tonight's clash at home to Ossett Albion (kick-off 7.45pm).

Pickering Town completed a clean sweep of premier division triumph as they downed Buxton 3-1 at the Recreation Ground.

The star of the show was Ricky Greening, the brother of Middlesbrough and England Under-21 star Jonathan Greening.

The Pikes' version notched two goals, his opener a mazy run of which his brother would have been proud to claim as his own.

Pikes' other strike was bagged by Matthew Morton.

But there was no joy for Tadcaster Albion.

Their bid to put even more distance between themselves and the NCEL first division relegation zone was stymied when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Worsborough Bridge.

Early dominance counted for nought for out-of-sorts Harrogate Town.

They suffered their fifth straight UniBond League premier division reverse when Whitby Town notched twice without reply at Wetherby Road.

A former Scarborough one-two inflicted the first blow, Alex Gildea executing a swap of passes with Aaron Wilford to break the deadlock just after the half-hour mark.

Harrogate continued to waste chances before Whitby added a second through Graham Williams late into stoppage time.
