ARCHITECTS heal thyself! DWA, the architects' practice has decided to concentrate on itself - and build a new wing to its early 19th century grade 2 listed headquarters at Delacy House, in Park Street, Selby.

The extension will give the practice a third more room, with an extra 1,500 sq ft of office space.

When finished in the late spring it will accommodate up to 12 architects and technicians.

It speaks volumes for the expansion of the practice, which won the Evening Press Progress Through People award in 2000.

Selby MP John Grogan, a good friend of DWA managing director David Ward, popped in to see how building work was getting on and took the opportunity to praise the work of DWA in the community.

"It is great that a successful local company like this is responsible for the design of the new Community House in Selby to house Selby District Voluntary Services. Anyone using the Citizens' Advice Bureau, the WRVS or Relate will see the benefits," he said.

Mr Ward said: "Our commitment to our employees, their comfort and continued efficient working practices are very important to us and so we needed more room. We've had a lot of success in Selby and rather than move we decided to expand."
