SAVILLE Audio Visual, based in Nether Poppleton, York, announced today that it has acquired one of Scotland's fastest-growing AV conference suppliers.

The deal with Edinburgh-based Media Facilities Company means that Saville now becomes the only professional AV firm operating out of all four UK capitals and confirms it as the nation's biggest.

The amount paid for it is undisclosed, but Saville's finance director Ron Allpress said: "We expect the acquisition to add £1 million to our £33 million turnover on top of the £500,000 we are hoping for from the acquisition of Linx."

He was referring to the transformation of Linx Visual Media in North Lincolnshire into Saville Linx Multimedia, announced last October.

John Sills, managing director of Saville, said: "With Edinburgh as the UK's second most important conference destination, we've been planning to establish a base there for some time."

The Media Facilities Company recently saw its turnover soar by 42 per cent in spite of widespread trading difficulties faced by the Scottish tourism industry.

Its founder, John Dick, said Saville's experience and resources, including other recently-acquired video and multimedia production services "will be a tremendous boost for our existing customers and, we hope, for new ones."

It is the latest big step forward for Saville, which started as a pharmacy in York in 1836.
