MUSICIANS with learning and physical disabilities will be visiting North Yorkshire schools as part of Live Music Now.
The Arcadia Bassoon Quartet, which includes youngsters aged two to 19, with moderate to severe physical, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties, will be visiting four schools in the area next week.
The musicians, who are drawn from a wide variety of genres, must audition to participate, and demonstrate a very high standard of musicianship.
The Arcadia Bassoon Quartet will be at Woodlands School and Springhead School, in Scarborough, on Monday, and Selby Abbey Primary School and Northfield School in Acomb, York, on Tuesday.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Live Music Now a concert will take place at the University of York, on March 13, from 1pm.
Leading up to the showcase concert, children from Galtres and Fulford Cross Special Schools, in York, will each take part in two workshop sessions covering Indian music and dance led by Mavin Khoo Dance Education.
During the concert, children who have participated in the workshops will perform alongside an augmented company of musicians and dancers.
