THIS really is a swingin' affair from the days of sweetly innocent teenage musical movies, 41 years ago, ever so nicely reupholstered for Cliff's grey army.

The limited-edition CD package comes in a 45rpm gatefold sleeve with a mini-sized reproduction of the original cinema poster, glossy lobby cards with Technicolor sheen and an Inside Summer Holiday souvenir booklet of facts, figures, behind-the-scenes tittle-tattle and recording details. The music? The original "16 swinging new hit songs" from Cliff's continental caper on a double decker are bolstered by previously unreleased alternative takes and film versions, together with groovy American advertising for "fun on the run" with Cliff and The Shadows. So you get more Bachelor Boy, The Next Time and fellow number one Summer Holiday for your pound, to go with the Associated British Studio Orchestra's Yugoslav Wedding. "Teenage joy with a bongo beat" is provided by not only by Cliff, the choirboy Elvis, and his breezy instrumental-loving Shads but also those ubiquitous Sixties hounds of politely swingin' sound, the Norrie Paramor Strings and the Michael Sammes Singers. Fun and laughter on a Summer Holiday, for more than a week or two.
