A FARMER who served as a parish councillor for 35 years has died, aged 80.
Lance Moore, of Middleton Farm, East Cottingwith, was well-known within farming circles.
He was born at Middleton Farm and lived and worked there all his life, farming up to his death.
A keen sportsman, he played cricket for East Cottingwith for about 65 years and was vice-president of Escrick Cricket Club and vice-president of Woodhouse Grange Cricket Club.
He was president and founder member of Canon Headley cricket competition and a life member of York and District Cricket Umpires Association.
He umpired for many years in the York Senior Cricket League.
Mr Moore died of a heart condition on February 11, in Manor House Nursing Home, Stamford Bridge.
His funeral was held at St Mary's Church, East Cottingwith. He leaves a sister, Edna.
