EIGHTEEN darts from Dave Pilmoor got Greyhound off to a tremendous start in York Open League division one.

He then combined with Mick Harris to secure a 5-4 win at Slipper which tightens their grip on second place.

In division two, Pack recorded a narrow 5-4 win against Ebor which puts them two points behind leaders Howden. Dick Willoughby gamed in 20.

Chris Manners threw a splendid 17 darts and Mark Thornton, with 19, spearheaded Mount to a 4-0 lead over Crescent 'B', who rallied with Stan Isaac and Derek Alexander playing well to salvage the aggregate. Mount still edged the result 5-4.

A Brian Atkinson maximum put Woolpack 3-0 up, but Huntington 'A' came back to win 5-4. Karen Richardson led the charge, while Harry Watson-Dave Ware sealed the match. Hospital Social Club beat Reindeer, who are still seeking their first win, 5-4.

Huntington 'B' strengthened their hold on division three. Pip Hair clinched the match within the singles and Tom Hair hit the tons. Lee Stafford was Jackdaw's only success.

Fulford Arms made a late surge for promotion with an emphatic 9-0 thrashing of Winning Post. Captain Simon Collins was well backed by Billy Wylie.

Maximums from Steve Simpson and S Fennell (20) steered Burton to an excellent 8-1 win against Little John, whose point-taker was Darren Griffiths.

An excellent 103 check for 21 darts by Mike Kearney and 138 finish from Geoff Holmes failed to save Mount 'B'. Good games from Ali Wray and Alan Graham steered Bay Horse 'B' to a 5-4 win.

The division one individual competition qualifiers are: Paul Cooper (Bay Horse 'A'), Rob Henman (Tap), Mike Harris (Volunteer) and Rich Corner (Bay Horse 'A').
