THE York City Supporters' Trust was today holding talks with representatives from the players' union, the Professional Footballers' Association, as part of their take-over bid.

Discussions are also expected to take place with the Football League and more talks with both bodies are expected over the coming two or three weeks.

Agreement from the football authorities as to the Trust's plans is needed if the fans' organisation's rescue package for the Minstermen is to be realised.

The Evening Press has learned talks between the Trust and representatives of Carlisle-based millionaire Brooks Mileson are currently at a standstill.

Sources reckon the Mileson party have put their interest in City on hold while they seek clarification from the Trust on a number of matters concerning their future involvement.

As reported in the Evening Press, the millionaire is backing the Trust's take-over bid for the club while he concentrates on the major task of building a new stadium.

A Trust spokesman said: "The Trust continues to focus on saving the club. In relation to the ground issue, the Trust maintains that the club should remain at Bootham Crescent at least until an alternative stadium is in place.

"If Mr Mileson's preliminary plans for a new stadium can be progressed that would be a great option for the club."

Lincoln City fans are to stage a bucket collection in aid of the City Trust at the Imps' home game with Leyton Orient.
