BUSINESS people of the future were showcasing their talents in York.
Pupils from 21 schools across York and North Yorkshire were selling products made as part of the Young Enterprise company programme at a trade fair at St William's College, between 11am and 3pm. The students are involved in the year-long programme, which involves them setting up a business, complete with managing director. They get advice from local businesses and come up with an idea, before selling shares to buy materials needed for production.
The Young Enterprise development manager for North Yorkshire, Steve Booth, said there would be a range of products on display, including jewellery, printed T-shirts and wooden stools. One school is providing a glass engraving service and another is a talent agency. Students from York College, Canon Lee School, Queen Ethelburga's, Joseph Rowntree, Queen Margaret's, Huntington and The Mount will be taking part, as well as King James's School, Knaresborough, St Aidan's and St John Fisher School and Ashville College in Harrogate, and Harrogate Ladies' College.
