BOOTHAM first team won a dramatic match 3-2 on a re-spotted black in the final frame of their York Conservative Clubs' Ted Plant Pairs snooker semi-final against Fulford first team.

Acomb I beat Bootham II 4-1 in the other semi-final and will play Bootham I in the final at Bootham Conservative Club on Tuesday (March 4).

Fulford won the first two games against Bootham I and went 50 points ahead in the aggregate scores. However, Ken Barnes and Geoff Lyth gave Bootham a chance with a resounding win in the third frame to reduce the aggregate deficit to just one point.

Ken Carling and Peter Henderson then took the last frame to a re-spotted black, which Carling sank to give Bootham an unlikely success.

Bootham go into the final with the chance of a hat-trick, having won this competition for the past two seasons.

Bootham II failed in their bid to make the final a repeat of last year's clash when the two teams met at that stage for the first time in the history of the competition.

After Bootham II had won the first frame, Acomb I reeled off the next three frames and easily gained the aggregate point for a 4-1 victory.
