COMPETITORS from across the county will be descending on York on Sunday for the opening event of the 2003 motocross season.

The competition, promoted by volunteers from the York AMCA Motocross Club, will see riders of all ages determined to take the honours and give a confidence boosting start to the new season.

The racing will take place on a hillside circuit developed by the York club and consists of many fast turns and jumps that will guarantee close racing and spectacular action.

The track is located near to Acklam and will be signposted off the A166 York to Driffield road. The racing begins at 10am and entry is £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children.

Riders to look out for will be 12-year-old Ricki Musselwhite, in the inter junior category, and his father Kev in the seniors. The Botterill brothers, David and Gary will also be displaying there skills on their 426cc Yamaha machines and the spectacular Thomas Shoebridge on his 125cc KTM machine.

The York club meet socially, every other Wednesday at 8.30pm at the Riverside pub located just off the York ring road, on the A19 near Skelton.
