HARROGATE Town netted a huge lift today ahead of tonight's tough UniBond League premier division trip to Blyth Spartans.
Town boss John Reed told the Evening Press he had secured the permanent signing of striker Mark Smith after a loan spell from Eastwood Town.
Now that the 6ft. 4in. tall front-man was on the payroll permanently Reed was hoping his men could better exploit his striking assets and end the club's current doldrums.
"He's done well for us during his five or six games on loan, but we have not done him justice," sighed the Town manager.
"He is a big strapping centre-forward and we need to pepper him with crosses. But in the time he's been here he has only had about two decent crosses to feed on. Hopefully we can start to use him the way he should be used."
Selby Town are also in action tonight when they entertain a Brigg Town side cock-a-hoop after reaching the FA Vase semi-finals.
