I FEEL I must write to you after reading about the Gibson family showing their support for the brave men and women of our armed forces (March 31).
Last week, we received a letter from my brother, who is currently serving his country somewhere in the Gulf. I thought you might like to see a little of what he wrote from a soldier's perspective...
"Hello Mum,
"Well, just a note to let you know I am fine. We get the papers through occasionally, normally about seven days late. It looks like the people in the UK don't care much about us lot over here.
"They would change their minds if they had one of those Scud missiles flying over their heads."
The fact that he feels the UK doesn't care about the soldiers out in the Gulf is heartbreaking.
Now is the time to stop protesting and to start letting those far away from home know just how proud we are of them, and how much we love, admire and respect them. Please show your support for our troops.
Mrs Kim Wise,
Cranbrook Avenue,
Boroughbridge Road,
York.
