MOST veterans of the Second World War are now in their 80s.
I served in the 3rd Reconnaissance Regiment. We got too far in front seeking out the enemy, and came under shell fire from our own guns.
We thought this would never happen, but it did. We took cover and fortunately no one was hurt, but it was very frightening.
When I heard this happening in Iraq, I felt sorry for our lads out there.
I don't like wars, but we must give them our complete support, and hope the war will soon be over and see the end of Saddam and all of his regime, and let the people of Iraq live a better life in peace.
