ANNE Bass bombarded the board to score 100,100,120,125 in a splendid 20-darter as Cygnet 'A' annihilated second-placed Cue Ball in York John Smith's Ladies League division one.

That put Cygnet on a high and Lynda Kennelly included three tons Lyn Thompson 160,100 while Marie Caravana checked out 85 as they proceeded to win 8-1. Lyndsey Sawyers saved the snooker club's blushes.

Sandra Bruce included two tons and closed on bull for 22 darts before winning the decider with Karen Alton for Independent over Tap, while Anita Adams and Doreen Johnstone provided good Slipper resistance but the leaders, Crystal Palace, polished them off 7-2.

Phoenix were put on level terms by Babs Harrison after good legs by Clair Cooper and Jane Wright, but Clifton showed their pairs strength to win 6-3 and Maureen Murray, hitting three tons, helped Cygnet 'B' beat Flag 6-3.

Dringhouses seemingly have the division two title in the bag as they were only stopped from a clean scorecard by Leeman's Linda Abley.

Holgate WMC jump into second spot having their 7-2 match sewn up before the pairs. Sue Richardson was Severus' lone singles winner and then combined with Val Long to get the other point. Babs Potter top-scored for the winners.

Britannia lie third following a 6-3 defeat to Burton WMC, while Angie Blackmore-Linda Embleton were victorious in the decider for Clifton after Shepherd were put on level pegging by Paula Sowden-Sue Fay.

The two Linda's, Ewen and Goldsmith, secured a 5-4 victory for Puss 'B' in a hard fought tie against Cue Ball, while Pat Price found 23 darts as Woolpack went to a 6-3 win at Mount and Audrey Allan hit the big scores as Ebor beat Mitre 7-2.

Kelvyn Frankel (20) supported by Paul Keers (21) and Ron Simpson helped nudge Bay Horse, Marygate, ahead and Frankel-Keers secured the win at Cygnet 'A' whose best reply was 21 darts from Dave Gibbons.

Holgate entertained Sun 'A' and had Pete West in sparkling 17-dart form. But a tremendous 15-darter from Chris Thompson turned things Sun's way and to a 7-2 scoreline.

Barry Noble opened in 19 darts, but Dringhouses only managed a point against Cue Ball who had good wins by Stewart Scott and Gary Scott-Dave Endeacott to register a 5-4 result.

Shepherd beat Blacksmith's helped by 18 darts from Heath Scaife and the 5-4 matchwinner by Mick Willsden-Mike Percival.

However, not to be outdone, a wide margin win from Glenn Waterworth-Andy Turpin rescued the aggregate.

Saddle stormed to a 4-0 lead. Nevertheless, Green Tree 'B' stopped the rot with Paul Wilson and carried on to collect the remainder, Rich Beddows-Dave Fotheringham snatching the decider.

In division two, Kevin Richmond (19) and Rob Robinson (21) included excellent performances in Slip 'A' team's emphatic 8-1 at Institute 'B', while Osbaldwick overturned Cygnet 'B' 5-4. But 21 darts from Derek Hartley and a last game win partnering Ian Hartley saved the aggregate point.

Although Green Tree 'A' held a 4-2 lead, they lost the points to Groves who had Dave Atkin-John Morrison coolly collecting the decider.

Slip 'B' outscored Institute 'A' on the high numbers and dominated the late stages, Garry Strider-Keith Dodd getting the winner, while Paul Calpin opened Flag's account with a maximum, but Swan swept to a 7-2 score.
